Movement is everywhere. Find the dance in every little thing.

What is Vera Monstera?

A place out of time, away from “it all”–whatever your “it” is. Stroll through nature and into feeling fully in your body. Step out of your brain and into a different intelligence–an embodied world where life springs from the power of play. It’s a place, I hope, where you breathe a little easier. Because I need that, too. When you pop in, we’ll wander all over the place, but two things drive the feely-thinkings here…

  1. Play…a deep form of work which unlocks hearts and keeps us moving.

  2. Slow-osity…a made-up word for my personal movement practice. It’s like velocity, but instead of speeding in one direction, it dives into spacious internal rhythms. No destinations, but lots of sights to see.

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

Who is Vera Monstera?

Vera Monstera is Jenny Parrott. Hi, that’s me! I’m a writer who’s a dancer or the other way around. After spending over 20 years as an arts educator (and a bit of a copywriter), I now write children’s books. I dig plants and maybe even talk to them. I feel better if I move, write or work with plants each day. If I hit all three, that’s a total cosmic jackpot.

When is Vera Monstera?

Wednesdays! I hope! Expect an essay or fun ephemera (videos, story readings).

Wait. Is this AI?

No, it’s magically, imperfectly human-made!
